TEXTtrac - MicroChip Reunification Service via SMS
What is the TEXTtrac service?
As a provider of identification MicroChips and the PETtrac Database service, AVID works very closely with a number of organisations including veterinary practices, dog wardens and rescue centres. As a result of our desire to offer improved services, and recognising that there had to be a better way to help such organisations, AVID developed TEXTtrac.
In line with the ever increasing popularity of mobile phone technology, AVID launched the first MicroChip SMS reunification service in August 2003. The service, known as TEXTtrac, allows authorised animal welfare agencies and veterinary practices to obtain owner information quickly and directly to their mobile phone without the need to write details down.

Who uses the TEXTtrac reunification service
TEXTtrac is primarily used by dog wardens and rescue centres, and is particularly beneficial when it is not easy to have a phone conversation to retrieve MicroChip information; for example if you are struggling to restrain a dog on a lead at the time, or where you cannot get a good mobile signal to have a conversation but where an SMS can be sent and received.
How does the ground-breaking TEXTtrac service work?
It could not be easier to use - simply create a new SMS message and enter the MicroChip number; nothing else is required since the authentication process uses the mobile telephone number to identify and verify the user. The message will be received by PETtrac and automatically processed before returning a message directly to your phone.
The system also recognises when the MicroChip is not registered with the PETtrac Database, and will respond with the alternative database details to contact.
How can I register for the TEXTtrac service?
To register for TEXTrac please call a member of the AVID sales team on 0800 652 7 977 who will be able to process your details and authorise you for this service.
Once authorised you will receive an SMS with the dedicated TEXTtrac mobile phone number which you can then store in the your address book for easy reference.
